Getting Focus on Project
On a recent phone call, Richard, and I came up with this focus on our project:
- Audience: Students at CDL schools
- Length of Presentation: 1 Hour
- It will have four sections
- Who's The Boss; the focus here is that when a driver is behind the wheel of his truck no one, absolutely no one can tell him what is safe or how to drive, etc
- A section on Wellness, self care on the road
- to be named
- to be named

YOU ARE YOUR BOSS

Voilia 4 sections
The section, "Who's The Boss," is not about triangles or eating. It is about driver empowerment. When a driver is behind the wheel the driver is The Boss! No one can tell him/her how to drive or to hurry up beyond legal limits and so on. Had this point been made when I was in CDL school and driver training I may not have had my 60MPH jack knife.
ReplyDeleteI had a tough time with nearly falling asleep to make my delivery and when done I told dispatch to show me available for 05:00 the next morning. I allowed him to talk me into heading out at midnight that night. Had I claimed my right to say when I feel it is safe for me to drive I would most likely not of had that accident.
So this section is about stressing how we have the final say when and how we drive. Period. As I have shared with you, when talking to seasoned drivers about this they seem to almost be surprised that we do in fact have this power. It is more than a right, we are legally bound to determine when we can safely driver or not.
